Phoenix Netball Club Gold Coast is pleased to announce the club has been awarded $35,000 as part of the Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Club President – Ms Donna Bell said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded these funds as part of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.”  The Gambling Community Benefit Fund is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program, distributing about $54 million per year. Funding is allocated to not-for-profit community groups, to enhance their capacity to provide services, leisure activities and opportunities for Queensland communities. “The funds will be used to not only purchase much-needed training equipment but also safety equipment and most importantly a large portion of the funding will be used to put our young girls through structured well-being & empowerment educational programs” added Ms. Bell.

Phoenix will be including as part of the grant funding and in conjunction with Marina Passalaris, CEO & Founder of Beautiful Minds, educational workshops to all of our registered players with a focus on self-esteem and well being. “Our club motto is Life skills through Sport, and these workshops through Beautiful Minds will be key to helping our young players develop as young, self-confident women,” said Ms Bell.

Ms Passalaris added “I believe in educating our teens at a young age about who they are, how their minds work, what healthy relationships look like, how to make good choices when it comes to peer pressure around drugs, sexting, alcohol, and smoking. Beautiful Minds Workshops also unpacks how to stop the negative self chatter, how to like what you see when you look in the mirror and so many other vital topics our adolescents need today. In being able to partner with Phoenix Netball Club Gold Coast we are thrilled to be rolling out these important workshops to a large group of young girls. We are very excited to be working with Phoenix and Ms. Bell for this program”.
